Bollywood Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has kept his word with his close friend Sanjay Dutt. 

Dutt had asked Hirani to assist him on the films that will be produced under his banner. Before going to jail too, Sanjay asked the director to support his wife Manyata to run their production house. 

And now we hear the two are joining hands to make a biopic on Sanjay's troubled and controversial life.

Apparently, Rajkumar Hirani is all set to co-produce the film with Manyata apart from directing it. 

Hirani had a discussion about making a biopic with Sanjay a long time back but because he was busy with other films, the plans never materialized. However, this time the director has decided to make the film with Manyata. 

As soon as his next film 'P.K.' releases, he will start the pre-production work on Sanjay's biopic. According to the grapevine, he has already started his research for the film. 

The idea has been presented to Ranbir Kapoor, who might play the lead. 

Ranbir has loved the idea but nothing has been finalized as yet.
