The Hollywood heartthrob has two adopted children with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness 11-year-old Oscar and Ava, six.

Hugh admits that Oscar isn't always impressed with his chosen career path, as he spends so much time in the spotlight. The star's son was particularly embarrassed after Hugh was injured during a stunt for The Oprah Winfrey Show. The actor used a zip line to fly onto the stage from the top of the Sydney Opera House and ended up crashing headfirst into a lighting rig.

"They said to me, You control the brake. You will be fine. Just remember, the faster you go, the better the brake works,'" Hugh recalled during an interview with UK TV show This Morning. "I got a little carried away up there, I think. My kids have never gone to anything like that with me, but they both asked to go. They were watching as I went careering off, covered in blood. And apparently my son turned to my wife and said, Why can't we be a normal family?'"

The 42-year-old star admits that wasn't the only time his son felt humiliated.

Hugh claims he regularly makes Oscar squirm when he is in public.

"My son is embarrassed by me all the time. Just the other day I was about to introduce a film and he said, Dad when you get up there and wave it's cheesy, you look ridiculous,'" Hugh laughed. "He is a great leveller." (C) Cover Media
