Hugh Grant: I didn't organise christening

25th April 2012

Hugh Grant has hinted "bossy' Elizabeth Hurley organised the christening for his daughter then simply invited him along.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star welcomed his first baby following a brief romance with former model Tinglan Hong.

The actor had his daughter Tabitha baptised in a quiet English village close to the home of his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth over the weekend.

Hugh admits one of his former partners is the godmother of his baby and twisted his arm about the christening. While he didn't name the woman, he joked she was adamant about the event.

"Again, I didn't plan that," he told TV's Live! With Kelly.

"One of my ex-girlfriends is extremely bossy and she called me and said, You are having a christening.' And I said, I don't think so' and she said, No, it's happening, I am her godmother.' And so the next thing, we were down in a charming little country church with my daughter being christened. And actually, it was very nice."

Hugh also gushed about his baby saying: "I have an adorable daughter I couldn't love her more."

Reverend John Swanton conducted the baptism. He said the ceremony was lovely.

"The service was a traditional one and the baby was absolutely delightful," he told British newspaper Sunday Express.

Guests were invited to a celebratory party afterwards at the home of Elizabeth, who owns a farm nearby.
