Despite of being an outsider, model tuned actress Kangna Ranaut has successfully carved a niche for herself in the Hindi Film Industry.
The actress who made a thundering debut with a challenging role in 'Gangster' six years back, has already won a National Award in such a short span of her career. She who was already acclaimed for her performances and caliber as an actress never had the dearth of offers in her career but yet, she feels that there was a struggle phase in her career.
"My journey has been great. It is a mix of struggle and appreciation. Everybody has different kind of struggle. For some it is lack of work but for me it was not getting the right kind of films. After Gangster I was being typecast, be it Life in a Metro, Fashion or others…So, I actually had to put my foot down and turn down those films. I almost had to stay out of work sometime to change the course of the image I was getting into without wanting it. I always felt that I had much more to give than just doing the same edgy, dramatic roles," said Kangna.
And post this stern decision of hers, she successfully swayed away from the dramatic roles and did vibrant colorful characters in films like 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai' and 'Tanu Weds Manu'.
Happy with the current course of her career, Kangna exclaims that she is content with the way things are turning out for her.
"It is only now that I can say I am enjoying my work. Now I am getting the kind of roles that I want to do. I now have a say," added Kangna.
