The Beverly Hills, 90210 star and wife Erin welcomed their daughter Mia Loren Ziering on Monday night in Los Angeles.

The 47-year-old actor's wife delivered daughter Mia at 10:09 pm, and she weighed in at 7lbs. 6oz., according to People. According to a source the babys name begins with an M in honour of Ian's late mother Micki.

Ian took to his social networking page to express his delight after the birth of his daughter.

"Well, it's official, I'm a dad!" he wrote on his Facebook page. "As I sit holding Mia, Erin sleeps the most beautiful sleep. My thoughts race with visions of a brighter future, only made possible by what happens today... or, last night! God bless us all."

The couple wed in May of last year.

They announced the pregnancy just five months after their big day in October, and celebrated with a baby shower last month. (C) Cover Media
