Director: Vikram Kumar

Ratings: 2.5/5

A refreshing Cup of Ishq!

Filmmaker Vikram Kumar started his career with the Telugu movie Ishtam (starring Charan and Shriya Saran) way back in 2001. After the Tamil film Alai (Simbu and Trisha) in 2003, he made the hugely successful bi-lingual eerie thriller, 13B in Hindi andYaavarum Nalam in Tamil, with Madhavan and Neetu Chandra in 2009.

And now, he is back to square one with a Telugu film Ishq which has Nitin and Nithya Menon in lead roles. Backed by a strong technical team (cinematography by P C Sriram is just a sample), Ishq wins our hearts.

The story is very simple: A guy meets a girl, falls in love, and faces troubles before holding her hands. If you are the one who feels that the God is in the details, read on-

Rahul (Nitin) is a carefree youngster, who leads life in a happy way. He comes across Priya (Nitya Menon), initially on a crowded road and then on a flight. The young man is attracted towards her.

As days pass, Rahul and Priya fall in love with each other and when things seem brighter, comes the shock. That Priya’s elder brother Shiva (Ajay) once had a feud with Rahul. Now Rahul has to overcome this hurdle to unite with his sweetheart.

Ishq finally gives the big break to Nitin, for which he has been patiently waiting for years now. The actor, using the opportunity full well, comes out with a convincing performance.

Nithya Menon proves once again that she is a bundle of beautiful expressions. The actress simply rocks in Ishq. Rest of the star cast doesn’t have much to do, but at the same time, everyone has some part to play.

Anup's music score adds real strength to the movie. Watch out for the song Lachamma... Cinematography by P C Sriram is superb. The cameraman, with his work, explains why his colleagues and counterparts admire him a lot. Other technical departments are okay.

Vikram Kumar succeeds in delivering a love story. However, he should have focused more on presenting a strong conflict in the script. On the whole, Ishq is worth the money and time you spend.
