Isla Fisher not interested in awards

23rd February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Isla Fisher claims she has never wanted to win an Oscar.

The actress has carved out a career as a comic actress in recent years, thanks to roles in Wedding Crashers and Confessions of a Shopaholic. She is currently promoting her new animation Rango, in which she voices the character of Beans. Johnny Depp also lends his tones to the title character, and the film has a lot of funny moments.

It suited Isla down to the ground, as the star gets a kick out of making people laugh.

I just like tapping into my inner idiot, I think its fun. Ive never aspired to have an Oscar. I love dramatic movies, I appreciate them, I love dramatic actors and actresses but I really love comedy, she told Cover Media. I studied at clown school in Paris, Ive wanted to be a clown. Ive been doing comedy through mime, I never thought Id be in movies but I love being in movies, I feel so blessed and grateful for every second, but Im just a comedy fan.

Isla has spoken in the past about how hard it is to find good comedy roles for women. She has become frustrated with the parts on offer she has started working on her own films, and hopes one of them will come to fruition soon.

Im developing Groupies. After Wedding Crashers I was just surprised about the lack of comedic female material and so I had to start working and getting stuff out there for myself, she explained. Groupies, I think, is pretty close to being ready and Ive got another movie called Life Coach that Ive been working on, hopefully one of them will go soon. Its more frustrating to be in development than it is to just be cast in something, because a lot of it is out of your control.

Rango is released in the UK on March 4. (C) Cover Media
