'Balwaan', a 1992 movie with loads of action and a debutant who went on to win a place in many hearts is turning 50 today. He is not just an actor but also a producer, a hotelier, liquor and fashion boutique owner and the Captain of the Celebrity Cricket League's Mumbai Heroes. He is none other than Sunil bhai, i.e. our very own Suniel Shetty. Born as 'Sunil' he changed his name to 'Suniel' for numerological reasons.

Suniel Shetty, born on 11th August, 1961 in Mulki, Mangalore Taluka, Karnataka, to a Tulu speaking Bunt family, started his career with his film 'Balwaan' in 1992. The movie marked his way to be established as an action hero. 'Anth', 'Pehechaan', 'Mohra', 'Bhai' etc... were a few of his hit movies.

From being an action hero to starring in comic movies was a very daring step but he was nevertheless successful through his movies like 'Hera Pheri', 'Awara Pagal Deewana' and so on. The Filmfare Award recognised and honoured his performance in 'Dhadkan' as the Best Villain and he even won the Best Actor award at the South Asian International Film Festival for his role in 'Red Alert: The War Within'. He went on to act in the English movie 'Don't Stop Dreaming' and the Tamil movie '12B'.

Suniel Shetty is not just an actor though. He is a man with many talents. He started his own production company called Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd., he launched hotels specialised in Udipi cuisine and owns a clothing boutique named Mischief. Since he started off, he has touched many hearts along the way.

One such man got a chance to celebrate Bhai's birthday with him. Suresh Sharma a fan of Suniel Shetty since his 'Balwaan' days, got a chance to celebrate Bhai's birthday. Today, he will be celebrating his 50th birthday with his wife Mana Shetty and his kids Ahan and Athiya.
