Jack Black: Ill make history

21st December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jack Black thinks he will go down in history alongside 18th century novelist Jonathan Swift.

The 41-year-old actor portrays Lemuel Gulliver in comedy Gullivers Travels, based on Jonathans novel about a man who becomes stranded on an island inhabited by people who are far smaller than him.

Jack felt under a great deal of pressure to perform well in the movie as Jonathans tale is one of the most-loved stories in history, and Lemuel is such an iconic role.

The funnyman feels proud of his performance though, and thinks it will see him remembered in history books alongside Jonathan in years to come.

Theres a lot of pressure there, but theres also a lot of fun opportunities to be part of the great history of a 300-year role enduring, he told Cover Media.

Me and Jonathan Swift, well go down in history together.

Jack admits he didnt have to think twice about accepting the part of Lemuel, as he adores fantasy tales. He also saw plenty of scope to employ his famous comedy skills.

I was drawn to the project because I loved the fantasy adventure element, thats my favourite genre, and the comedy had lots of rich potential, he enthused. I just liked the challenge of updating a classic. (C) Cover Media
