Jake Gyllenhaal and Minka Kelly reportedly had a short-lived romance.

The actress apparently rejected the hunk's advances when he first asked her out last fall.

But after her winter fling with Wilmer Valderrama fizzled out in April, Minka decided to give Jake a chance.

"Mink wasn't into Jake when he first pursued her," a mutual friend of the pair told Us Weekly.

The brunette beauty later had several dates with Jake although their relationship didn't last very long.

"Minka decided to give Jake another chance," the source added. "It was never serious, and it's over now."

The Hollywood starlet had dated baseball star Derek Jeter for three years before they finally called it quits last August.

Jake has been single since his romance with Taylor Swift ended in January 2011. The pair were only together for a couple of months and it's thought he was the one to finish it.

There is speculation Taylor has penned a track about their ill-feted union, which will feature on her next album.
