(Cover) - EN Showbiz - James Cameron wants to make a 3D movie about an indigenous tribe in Brazil.
The director plans to travel to the country later this year to shoot a film about people from the Amazon who oppose the building of a huge dam on the Xingu River. The tribe fears the dam could flood their lands and lead to displacement and Cameron is keen to highlight their plight.
"I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me," he said in an interview with Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. "I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture."
Cameron has already visited Brazil on two occasions to show his support for the tribe. He previously made a short film about the proposed dam on the Xingu River which will appear on the Avatar DVD when it is released later this year.
He said that when he was asked to help "the Brazilian Indians, who were desperate, I could not turn away".
It has been claimed the dam could create a flood zone of around 500sq km and lead to the displacement of 16,000 people. (C) Cover Media
