James Franco uneasy with Oscar buzz

3rd December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - James Franco says people constantly talking about his chance of winning an Oscar makes him insane.

The 32-year-old actors performance in Danny Boyles latest film 127 Hours has earned his high praise from critics, with many predicting he could receive an Academy Award nomination.

James portrays American mountain climber Aron Ralston, who was forced to amputate his lower right arm after becoming trapped whilst canyoneering, in the acclaimed movie, and his depiction has been hailed as flawless.

The actor admits he doesnt like thinking about the possibility of receiving an Academy Award though, and finds people discussing it all the time too much.

"It makes you insane," he told American host Jimmy Kimmel on his programme Jimmy Kimmel Live.

James was recently announced as the co-host of the 83rd Oscars, due to take place on February 27 next year. He will present the show with actress Anne Hathaway, and thinks it will be a great way of forgetting about any possible nominations he may receive. Apparently the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences' executive director Bruce Davis told the actor nobody has ever hosted the ceremony and scooped a prize on the same night, so James felt by accepting the offer to present the awards he would take the pressure off.
