(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicole Scherzinger was left really bruised after shooting the promo for her new single Poison.
The 32-year-old singer admits perfecting the energetic dance routine for the video took its toll on her body as she had to learn a variety of martial arts moves. Nicole donned several catsuits for the promo and unleashed her inner fighting spirit as she defeated her enemies with some stunning moves.
"There's a lot of fighting in it and I had to work on the whole combat thing. I had to train in martial arts for the video before I shot it, Nicole told British newspaper The Sun. "Although it looks easy, I got really bruised. I had bruises on all sorts of different parts of my body.
"The choreography had to be really fierce and strong as Poison is an aggressive, in-your-face song that is dangerous and out there."
Nicole who shot to fame as part of sexy girl group The Pussycat Dolls teamed up with producer RedOne for Poison. She knew she wanted to collaborate with RedOne who previously worked with Lady Gaga, Robyn and Enrique Iglesias because he has an impressive reputation for producing fresh, exciting music. Nicole wanted a high-tempo sound for her new, as-yet untitled, record and is thrilled with how it has turned out.
"I got together with RedOne because I wanted to do a really explosive live performance on stage and I needed the music to meet that capacity. It's such a powerful song, for me it's about a power from within, Nicole added. "The album has an up-tempo, dance, action-packed thriller vibe. I'm really proud of what we've created together."
