(Cover) - EN Showbiz - January Jones' newborn son had his fingers crossed for a Mad Men win at the Emmy Awards.
The actress gave birth to her first child, a son called Xander Dane, on September 13. The baby isn't even a week old but January told show creator Matthew Weiner that he was wishing them luck.
"Her baby had his fingers crossed," Matthew revealed to People magazine. "She told me that."
January didn't attend the awards as she wanted to stay at home with her new baby.
Matthew admits that the absence of the actress had the cast and crew worried. They believed that January had become something of a lucky charm for them and without her they might miss out on the award for Outstanding Drama Series.
"We had a horrible superstition that her not being here was bad for us. We miss her tonight," he said.
However, he didn't need to worry as Mad Men scooped the prize for the fourth year in a row.
Another Emmy absentee, Alec Baldwin, has claimed that he missed the awards show because he had to attend Tony Bennett's 85th birthday party.
The 30 Rock star was rumoured to have skipped the event because the opening sketch he filmed was cut from the show. However, Alec denied this and claimed that he had committed to the party before the date of the Emmys was confirmed.
"The Emmys have been in August for the last several years," Alec explained to People. "But they moved to this date and I'd already committed to this."
However, Alec also said that he wouldn't miss out on the show. Speaking on the red carpet at the birthday bash he said he would get round to watching it online.
"The Emmys are something I'm going to watch on YouTube tomorrow," he quipped. (C) Cover Media
