(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Javier Bardem says he would never choose a film role just because he thought it would lead to an award.
The charismatic Spanish star made his name through a host of films in his native language and also won an Oscar for his masterful portrayal of a hired killer in 2007 movie No Country for Old Men.
Yet Javier argues that, while he and his peers seek recognition, the thought of success would not sway him to take on a movie role.
We all want to be liked, he told Total Film magazine. Its like that with awards, some people say, We like you, we give this award to you but its no more than that, that cannot be a reason to choose roles, that shouldnt be a reason for us.
Javiers latest big screen outing is in Spanish drama Biutiful, in which he attempts to be reconciled with a former lover.
The actor only has praise for the film and says it will help audiences to break down cultural barriers.
I thought it was brilliant the way it was put together. Because of the landscape of immigration, it is important for us to understand we are the same, the 41-year-old explained. (C) Cover Media
