(Cover) - EN Movies - Jeff Bridges has joined the cast of R.I.P.D.

The movie is based on the comic by Peter M. Lenkov, and follows a recently deceased police officer who joins other dead policemen in the Rest In Peace Department. The movie sees him desperately trying to find the man who killed him.

Ryan Reynolds plays Nick Cruz, who is the new recruit, while Jeff has been lined up for the part of ageing R.I.P.D. member Roy, according to TheWrap. There had previously been rumours Jeff was in talks for the part.

Roy has been described as "a gunslinger who's been dead for hundreds of years" by producer Neal Moritz.

Zach Galifianakis was reportedly once linked to Jeff's role, but that didn't work out because of scheduling problems.

Filming is set to begin in Boston this September.

Robert Schwentke is directing the project, with the screenplay penned by Phil Hay. The film is slated for release next year. (C) Cover Media
