(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jennifer Hudson has denied she turned down the role in Precious because she did not want to put on weight.

The Weight Watchers spokeswoman had told Dateline earlier this week that she had passed on being in the movie because she "would have had to be the big girl again."

When asked by the host Lester Holt if she was fearful of being typecast as a heavy actress, Jennifer was resolute in her response.

"I don't like the idea of being boxed into anything," she said on the television show.

But she has now told TMZ that there was another factor rather than piling on the pounds that made her turn down the role that was eventually played by Gabourey Sidibe.

"I did not turn down the role because of the weight thing," she told the site in New York last night. "I turned it down because I felt it was just too graphic for me at that time."

Jennifer has lost 80lbs since giving birth to her son David two years. (C) Cover Media
