Jenny McCarthy says she is "so excited" about landing her own television show.

The actress and comedienne will launch the self-titled programme on VH1 later this year.

The network announced the news today and although it is still in the development stage will debut either in the summer or fall.

"[The Jenny McCarthy Show] will celebrate as well as skewer everyone and everything in pop culture, news, fashion, TV, movies and the Web," the statement said.

"Our viewers connect with smart, funny and outspoken women and Jenny certainly represents all of those elements wrapped up in a style that makes people smile."

Jenny took to her Twitter page to thank everyone for their well wishes and said she was "so excited" about the new series.

The 39-year-old was last seen on screen kissing a New York police officer during a New Year's Eve telecast.

She ended her five year relationship with actor Jim Carrey in 2010 and is mother to nine-year-old son Evan.
