Jessica Chastain is "bringing her grandma to the Oscars."

The 30-year-old The Help actress is nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year's Academy Awards.

Jessica has declined to take an amorous date to the red carpet affair this Sunday.

She favours having someone on her arm that has been a steady stream of support throughout her life.

"I'm bringing my grandma to the Oscars. So, she's my date," Jessica told E! Online. "She started crying when I told her."

Jessica has not yet decided on what gown she will be donning to the big event, but her grandma already has her outfit in order.

"She's so excited," Jessica gushed. "She's getting her nails done, her hair done and she's got a dress picked out."

Jessica, who is celebrating her first Oscar nomination ever, is intent on making Sunday a special day for one of her favourite women.

"We're probably go for a walk in the morning and go to a coffee shop I live close to," Jessica detailed. "It's all going to be really meaningful because she's the one who took me to my first play when I was a little kid. She's always been so supportive of me."

The 84th Annual Academy Awards will take place in Hollywood at the Kodak Theatre this weekend.
