(Cover) - EN Star Style - Jessica Simpson will act as a fashion mentor on a new reality TV show.

The actress-and-singer has become a huge success in the fashion business. The stunning star has an eponymous line of clothes, shoes and accessories which is so popular it is rumoured to be on course to net $1 billion this year.

Jessica is now putting her style knowledge to good use as a fashion mentor on upcoming NBC reality competition show Fashion Star. The 30-year-old will guide unknown designers as they start their own brands.

Jessica's involvement in the show was announced on Monday by Paul Telegdy, executive vice president of alternative programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"NBC is delighted to work with singer, designer, actress and pop-culture icon Jessica Simpson," he said in a statement. "With an almost billion-dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers."

Elle McPherson will host the show that will see 14 emerging designers battle it out for a multimillion dollar contract to launch a brand in three of America's largest retailers.

Jessica's starring role on the show has excited industry insiders. Ben Silverman, chief executive officer and founder of the production company Electus, says the blonde beauty will be a "perfect" mentor.

"Jessica Simpson has built an incredible fashion business and is a perfect mentor to our aspiring designers," he gushed. "She will complement the buyers, Elle Macpherson and [an] amazing format." (C) Cover Media
