Jessie J: Fans are my therapists

3rd June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jessie J has joked she has "30,000" therapists.

The British songstress, who has penned tracks for American pop royalty Miley Cyrus and Chris Brown, is currently enjoying success with her debut album Who You Are, which has already gone platinum in the UK.

The 23-year-old singer says she is finally living her dream, although struggles to cope with all the attention at times. Jessie admits it frustrates her when she is accused of copying other musicians, because she is her own person and isn't trying to emulate anyone else.

"I have been freaking out about it all on Twitter and I've got 30,000 people being my therapist!" she joked in an interview with Top of the Pops magazine. "I think because I'm new, people feel they've got the right to attack me and say I'm copying Nicki Minaj cos my hair's like hers or I'm copying Gaga cos I don't wear average clothes. I have had a little cry, but I'm not out to hate anyone I'm just trying to bring good energy to the world. I am what I am and my focus is on people who believe in me. I'm real, I'm me and that's all I can be."

Jessie says people mistake her confidence for being a "diva". The talented vocalist insists she is a sensitive soul at heart, and can't help the fact that her life always seems to be so eventful.

"Drama has always seemed to follow me wherever I go. I wasn't allowed in the school choir because I sang too loudly, then three years ago, I had a stroke. I've always been misunderstood. I think some people mistake my confidence for diva behavior, but I'm actually an emotional person who just wants to make everyone happy!" she confessed. (C) Cover Media
