(Cover) - EN Showbiz - A new movie based on the life of Harry Potter author JK Rowling is in the works.

The made-for-television film will focus on Rowlings rags-to-riches story, charting her rise from a struggling single mother to a world famous author worth more than 500 million over the period of ten years.

The unauthorised movie is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Victoria, Canada, which will act as a substitute for Scotland. Rowling wrote the first of her books from the boy wizard franchise in a caf in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh and the movie will also show how the writer dreamt up the concept of Harry Potter during a train journey.

Australian actress Poppy Montgomery - who plays an FBI agent in hit television show Without a Trace will portray 45-year-old Rowling in the film, which is being called Strange Magic.

Paul A. Kaufman is set to direct the project, while Canadian musician Antonio Cupo has been cast as Rowlings first husband.

The Harry Potter brand is estimated to be worth around 7 billion and the books have been published in a staggering 65 languages. The series inspired a franchise of hit movies starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. The final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, is scheduled to be released this summer.

A spokeswoman for Rowling has said the author has no comment to give about the film. (C) Cover Media
