The Hollywood stars have been married for two years, but announced they have separated earlier this week. No reason was given for the split, with the pair both requesting they are allowed to get over the marriage breakdown in private.

It has now been reported Scarlett and Ryan still get on, but simply grew apart. Both have busy schedules due to work commitments, so they have struggled to find time to be together.

They were together probably three months their entire marriage, a source told E! Online. They just grew apart. It was never like, We want to split.' But they just both gave in to the reality that they were never together. Work never even allowed them to get a chance to spend enough time together.

The pair tried hard to make the marriage work, and to make time for each other. Last year they each took a month off so they could have a lengthy holiday together, but in the end things reportedly got too difficult.

It hasn't been easy for either one of them, the source added. They still care deeply about each other. It didn't end on bad terms.
