(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Johnny Depp drew on his chameleonic side for his latest role.
The actor is famous for transforming himself for his movie parts, and his latest outing in Rango doesnt disappoint. He voices the lead character in the animated film, which is about chameleon Rangos quest to have a more exciting life.
Rango is keen to be an actor, and gets the chance to put his talent to the test when he breaks free from the tank hes been kept in by his owners and starts a new life.
Johnny was drawn to the movie as soon as he read the script, as he could relate to the role so well. What I saw early on with the character, and something that Gore [Verbinski, director] and I talked about, is that it is in sort of all of us, in a way, he mused to MTV News.
There is a chameleonic side to all of us in which we find ourselves in certain situations that you have to adapt to, sitting across from personalities that you have to adapt to in order to survive the moment or survive the day. That's kind of how I saw Rango.
Johnny and Gore have worked together before, on the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise. They love teaming up with each other, with Johnny particularly grateful for the freedom Gore always allows him.
Working with Gore in three Pirates films and Rango certainly, there are no limits to what you could to the possibilities, I mean he allows you to try all kinds of things that sometimes fail miserably, he explained separately.
Other times he goes into this kind of weird youve just arrived at some place that you know no ones ever been to before, you know. And he welcomes it and he creates an atmosphere that allows you to just, you know, go essentially ape. And yeah, and its a blast, you know thats really a fun part of the process. (C) Cover Media
