The American actress portrays bored suburban housewife Betty Draper in hit US drama Mad Men. The 33-year-old has admitted that her Mad Men co-star Jon Hamm, 39, who plays Bettys ex-husband Don Draper in the programme, looks more attractive before he goes into hair and make-up.

His character Don, an advertising executive, is always dressed impeccably, but in real life Jon prefers sportswear.

Yeah, hes very cool, very laidback. Hes almost more cool in his sneakers and sweatsuits than when hes in a suit, she told ShortList magazine.

January has revealed that she and her fellow actors turn up on set looking far from polished. She says that she relies on the on-site beauty teams to make sure she is camera ready.
