Jon Snow: Remembrance Sunday Ruckus!

6th November 2010

The second Sunday of the month in United Kingdom is a very special one as its the Sunday nearest to 11 November. The day is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of the end of the First World War hostilities. For veteran news reader Jon Snow, things got a little tipsy at this time of the year.

Jon has always opposed to wearing a poppy while covering the United States of America Mid Term Elections, he was adamant about wearing it only on the Remembrance Sunday itself. It all started when the 63-year-old's blog site was attacked by a person named Stan, where he was not happy with Jon not wearing a poppy.

The guy wrote that it was an act of dishonor towards the soldiers who died in the war and Jon replied by saying "They died that we might be free to wear a Poppy whenever we wish. I wish to wear mine on Remembrance Sunday. When you wish to wear yours is your business.....

Channel 4 has stood by Jons side and they wont force him to wear a poppy inspire of the repeated complaints from the viewers.
