Julia Roberts: Family is hard work

13th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Julia Roberts has days where taking care of her family seems like a “chore”.

The 42-year-old actress has three children, twins Hazel and Phinn, five, and three-year-old Henry, with her husband Danny Moder. Julia has taken a step back from her career since she became a mother because she wants to spend as much time as possible with her kids.

Every day, she hand-prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner for her family, and says the experience ranges from being “super-fun” to very mundane.

“My life at home gives me absolute joy. There are some days when as soon as you’ve finished cooking breakfast and cleaning up the kitchen it’s time to start lunch, and by the time you’ve done that you’re doing dinner and thinking, ‘There has to be a menu we can order from,’” Julia laughed,

“But then there are some days when it’s just so creative and so much fun and my kids will help me. And, as with anybody who’s a mom or a wife, it just becomes part of your everyday routine. Some days it’s super fun and some days it’s a chore.”

Julia is extremely happy in her relationship with Danny. The pair married in 2002 and have been inseparable ever since. Julia says the romance works so well because they are completely at ease in each other’s company.

“We occupy a space of love and trust and we’re best friends and support each other in every way,” she explained. “I have found my husband and we understand each other and we have a happy life together and that’s my great fortune.”

Julia is currently promoting her latest film Eat, Pray, Love. She has taken on only a handful of projects since becoming a mother, and doesn’t currently have anything lined up for the future. She starred in Broadway play Three Days of Rain in 2006 and says she would love to tread the boards again.

“That’s a hard place to be, on stage eight times a week. It’s relentless, but it’s also magical and amazing. I would absolutely do it again,” Julia told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. (C) Cover Media
