Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika to clash with Akshay Kumar's Gold

17th April 2018

Kangana Ranaut's period drama 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' which was all set to release on April 27 just a week later from here on, is now shifted to release on August 15 on the Independence day, the same day when Akshay Kumar's 'Gold' is set to hit the silver screen.

With the previous release date, at the beginning of the year, the film was about to clash with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's '2.0' and Nikhil Advani's 'Bazaar', starring Saif Ali Khan. On the new date, the film will clash against Akki's film that revolves around one of India's glorious moments at the Olympics. Although this delay for the film's release date is because of the pending VFX work.

A source close to the making said, "Apart from technical reasons, the content of the film, which revolves around the first war of Indian independence, makes it viable for an August 15 release. This also got instant thumbs-up from everyone involved in the project. Given that it's a long weekend, both Gold and Manikarnika can sail through which is the reason the producers have chosen to bring out the film on Independence Day. Had that not been the case, then it would have been a cause of concern."

Let us see who wins the box-office clash between Kangana Ranaut and Akshay Kumar beginning from 15th August 2018.
