'Malaal' avoids BO clash with 'Article 15'; postponed to July 5

27th May 2019

Audience have to wait a little longer to judge whether Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debutants of 'Malaal', Sharmin Segal and Meezaan Jaaferi are here to stay or not.

Movie has been pushed ahead by one week's time; previously set to release on June 28 along with Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Article 15', will now hit the theatres on July 5, 2019.

Confirming it on social media platform, Bhansali Productions Twitter handle Tweeted, "Witness their love in a new month of romance! #Malaal will now reach your hearts and screens on 5th July 2019! #MalaalTrailer: http://bit.ly/MalaalTrailer  #SLB @TSeries @sharminsegal @meezaanj @HadawaleMangesh @itsBhushanKumar"

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh too tweeted, "New release date... #Malaal will now release on 5 July 2019... Sanjay Leela Bhansali introduces Sharmin Segal and Meezaan in the film... Directed by Mangesh Hadawale."

Unlike Bhansali's other films which are larger-than-life, 'Malaal' is a typical love-story based in the crowded city of Mumbai. Sharmin plays a non-Maharashtrian girl and Meezan, a Maharashtrian boy falling in love with each other.

It is directed by Mangesh Hadawale and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
