(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kate Bosworth says she constantly had to battle to look more gritty and grimy in her new role as a female warrior-assassin.

The 27-year-old actress plays action character Lynne, who is forced to hide after refusing a mission in the film The Warriors Way.

She has admitted that during the shooting of the movie, she was constantly torn between wanting to look dirty and more authentic on screen and bowing to the film producers wishes for her to retain an air of beauty and glamour.

The actress confessed that it is sometimes difficult to look as raw on set as male actors can because women are supposed to be sexy in films.

"I feel as the girl, I get the short end of the stick for that. They're like, 'No, you need to be pretty!' I was like, 'Agh, I want to be covered in dirt and looking grimy and real!' She said of her producers. So I was constantly battling that, but I think they finally let me.

Far from wanting to look sweet and alluring in the film, Kate was desperate to get covered in mud and kept asking for more dirt and dust.

In particular, the make-up crew spent a long time making Kates usually perfect white teeth look more yellow, and turning her fingernails black.

I remember they had these dust bags, and they would look over and I would be the weird person in the corner rubbing my fingernails, she said. I was very into making sure the fingernails and teeth were very dirty, constantly telling them to put more yellow on my teeth." (C) Cover Media
