Katie Holmes reportedly won't "compromise on issues" over the custody of her daughter.

The actress filed legal papers to end her five-year marriage to Tom Cruise last week.

Katie has asked the court for sole custody of Suri, the six-year-old child she shares with Tom.

The former couple's lawyers have been actively negotiating the terms of their divorce, but Katie is said not to be budging an inch on this matter.

"She is dead set on keeping custody of Suri," a source told Us Weekly magazine.

"Katie is not going to compromise on certain issues, all regarding Suri."

Katie, who is said to have been increasingly uncomfortable raising her child under the edicts of Tom's religion Scientology, wants Suri to be safe.

"This is about protecting her daughter," another source revealed.

While Katie and Suri are currently in New York City, Tom is rumoured to be panicking alone in his Los Angeles home.

"[Tom and his team] are in major crisis mode," an insider close to Tom told the publication. "He is on the phone with his lawyers 24/7."
