(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katie Holmes and daughter Suri Cruise have enjoyed a weekend trip away.

The mother-daughter duo spent a few days in the actress's hometown of Toledo, Ohio where her parents Martin and Kathy Holmes still reside.

The 33-year-old is rebuilding her life after splitting from Hollywood star Tom Cruise and appears to be trying to give her six-year-old as normal a life as possible.

Although used to flying on private jets around the world, the pair travelled back to the Big Apple on a commercial flight from the mini-getaway.

Sources told Us Weekly that Katie and Suri were spotted shopping at the local mall and swimming at a country club pool.

The return home for Katie is said to be a rare one after she reportedly distanced herself from her family when she married Tom but is now forging a close relationship with them again.

Her lawyer father was said to be "very involved" in her bid to remain the primary caregiver of her little girl.

Meanwhile, Tom is apparently looking for a new home in New York so he can be close to his daughter as he does not want to return to what was the marital apartment in the city. (C) Cover Media
