Katy Perry needs a "catnap" before she considers any more career options.

There have been reports that the stunning songstress has landed the part of Freddie Mercury's former girlfriend Mary Austin alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in an upcoming film about the late Queen singer.

Although Katy has denied confirmation of the big screen part she would willingly oblige - after a short rest.

"There's been no formal offer. Although I do like the association and I like the company because I think Sacha Baron Cohen is hilarious," she told E! Online.

"I have to take a catnap first before I do anything."

Katy is currently promoting upcoming movie Part of Me 3D - a fly-on-the-wall documentary which was produced from film footage shot during her 2011 California Dreams world tour.

The 27-year-old is reportedly interested in expanding her film repertoire with the coveted part.

"Katy would love to be in the film as she is such a huge fan. She would want to play Mary Austin ideally. Katy has a similar look to Mary and would be a brilliant foil to Sacha," a source recently told British newspaper The Mirror.
