The American star made a triumphant return to the music scene this year with the album Flesh Tone, and has maintained the eccentric dress sense she became known for when she shot to fame in the 90s.

The 31-year-old singer is known for her flamboyant attire, wacky hairstyles and outspoken views, and many fashion critics have tried to draw comparisons between her style and that of artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga lately. Kelis doesnt focus on what other celebrities are wearing though, and is proud of her image, which she considers to be completely unique.

Look, Im me. I dont compare myself to other people, she explained.

For Kelis, appearing on worst-dressed fashion compilation lists wouldnt be a worry, as she always feels proud of what she wears and doesnt mind if others dont appreciate her wacky ensembles. The star knows she has plenty of admirers in the fashion industry anyway, and considers herself to be a champion of originality.
