Kelly Clarkson: Reality shows improve music

13th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kelly Clarkson has defended music reality shows, calling them "great for the whole industry".

The singer made her name on television talent series American Idol, winning the first season in 2002. She thinks people are too quick to criticise programmes like The X Factor, insisting they should be praised for focusing on talent rather than image.

"I love all of those talent shows and think they are great for the whole industry, because they are all about the music and the voice - everything it should be about," she told Us Magazine. "I do still watch Idol, more this season than any other! I am also a reality show junkie. You name it, I watch it!"

Kelly also admitted she found adjusting to the music industry tough at first, and struggled to cope with the attention she received after winning. However, the 29-year-old now insists on taking little breaks to ease the workload and they have done her the world of good.

"It is so hard to find confidence in this industry when everyone is trying to tell you what they think you should be," she explained. "I have learned to schedule a lot of me' time so I can make sure I am always feeling my best. I have also been so lucky that God gave me amazing people in my life that help keep me grounded and be the best I can be." (C) Cover Media
