(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kelly Rowland insists her music career is not about "selling sex".

The 30-year-old US singer has been promoting her recently released third studio album Here I Am, which features empowering hits for women and discusses feminine issues and sexual intimacy.

Kelly has been displaying some rather raunchy behaviour of late, including a topless cover shoot with Vibe magazine's latest edition, and a steamy performance with Trey Songz at the 2011 BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards show back in June.

Kelly insists she is completely in control of her image though, and isn't trying to exploit her sex appeal.

"I'm not trying to sell sex," she told New York Daily News at her album release party earlier this week.

"I'm just completely being myself. I don't let nobody dictate who I am. I did that for way too long that I don't care about those people no more. I really don't."

Recalling her seductive Vibe magazine cover, Kelly claims she had no qualms about revealing her body. A pair of jeans was her only wardrobe item for the shoot, and she didn't mind at all.

"I just wanted it to be skin, I'm so comfortable in my skin. As a woman, sometimes that takes so long to get to," she said. (C) Cover Media
