Kirsten Dunst proud to support family

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kirsten Dunst is "proud" to be able to support her family.

The actress revealed that she is incredibly close to her family and friends and worries that she doesn't get to spend enough time with them, especially her grandparents.

The blonde star, who recently won the Palm D'Or award for her role in drama Melancholia, doesn't understand why some families put their elderly relatives into care homes.

"I speak to my [friends and family] every day. My grandmother lives with my mother and I worry about not seeing her enough. I love my grandparents. I can never understand why people put family into care homes," she told Elle magazine. "I feel proud that I've earned enough money to buy a house for my mother and grandmother. My grandfather in Germany was so proud of my best actress award. He was telling all his friends, he got to be the guy with the big news. I love that."

The humble Hollywood star also credited her family for making her the person she is today.

Kirsten said that she treats her occupation like any other profession and doesn't think her success on the big screen elevates her to a superior status.

"I'm the girl I was brought up by my family to be. I don't think of myself as any more special than anyone else. OK, I'm an actress, but that's just what I do. People may recognise me, they may know my name, but it doesn't give me special powers," she said. (C) Cover Media
