Lady Gaga spoon-fed' music by parents

20th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga insists her parents have no right to criticise her career, as it's their fault for "spoon-feeding" her certain types of music.

The outlandish signer loves wearing unusual outfits and shocking with her songs and music promos. She is very close to her family but has admitted they sometimes struggle with her public persona. Her father has even asked her to only get tattoos down one side of her body so half of her remains normal'.

Gaga's relatives are supportive of her though, and she's revealed it's actually because of her mother Cynthia and father Joe that she's the way she is.

"My parents got me Stevie Wonder Signed, Sealed, Delivered and the Beatles when I was younger," she explains in new MTV show Lady Gaga: Inside the Outside. "Good choices, mom and dad. Don't spoon-feed me the Beatles and Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen and Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and Elton John and expect for me not to turn out this way."

The 25-year-old also opened up about her time at school, and one of her proudest moments.

Although the star is blonde now she is a natural brunette and believes her true hair colour stopped her being cast in school plays. She was a huge fan of Guys and Dolls and was desperate to appear in a production of it when she was a student, so decided the only way forward was to transform herself by purchasing a wig.

"I was so inspired by musical theatre like Guys and Dolls, but I would never get cast in those roles because I was a brunette," she recalled. "So eventually I bought a wig. Then I got cast as Adelaide [in Guys and Dolls]. It was the greatest moment of high school. I tell you, I still dream about it." (C) Cover Media
