The eccentric pop star has suggested in past interviews that she didnt fit in with her fellow students at the exclusive Convent Of The Sacred Heart school in New York, which was also attended by socialites such as Paris Hilton.
However, Gagas claims have been contradicted in new book Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga, which was written by author Maureen Callahan. Maureen interviewed Gagas former classmates from The Sacred Heart and from New York University, where the star also studied, in an effort to uncover the real Gaga.
The singers fellow alumni painted an interesting picture of young Gaga, with one even claiming the star was fairly quiet and didnt dress in the outlandish style she is now famous for.
I dont mean to sound demeaning, but she was really normal. She wasnt super-outspoken or into really edgy clothes. She was wearing T-shirts and sweatpants and sh*t. She was not a misfit, claims Jon Sheldrick who knew Lady Gaga when she was at New York University.
When Gaga spoke to Q magazine earlier this year she suggested she had never been a popular student, and preferred to immerse herself in the art world.
I was the smart, studious theatre and music student. I didn't hang out with all the popular blonde girls, she revealed.
But in the new book, another student claims the star was in fact very gregarious, saying she was a very suburban, friendly, social party girl. (C) Cover Media
