(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Leighton Meester says her band mates understand her girly side.

The 24-year-old actress is known for playing Blair Waldorf in television series Gossip Girl, although shes also a remarkably talented musician.

Leighton displays her vocal talents in Country Strong, a movie documenting the relationship between a rising country musician and a failed star, with the actress portraying a beauty queen-turned-aspiring country singer.

Leighton has also been busy working on musical ventures with a band called Check in the Dark, and she loves the fact that her band mates appreciate her feminine traits.

I was doing a movie in Budapest and Paris and was so lonely and writing all this music, and when I got back to the States, I got set up with this band, she told MTV.

And they're perfectly complementary to it and they understand, somehow, my girly emotional side.

Leighton feels far more confident with performing than her Country Strong character Chiles Stanton. The star admires how Chiles confidence grows in the movie, and absolutely loved starring in the film which also features performances from Garrett Hedlund, Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw.

No, I've had good experiences, I've never done what Chiles does [in the film]: get up onstage and not a single note comes out. That hasn't happened, she explained.

For her, that was another aspect that was incredibly fulfilling. She changes. She starts off a certain way and she ends up completely the other way. She grows up. (C) Cover Media
