Lindsay Lohan grateful' for court appearance

24th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan was reportedly "thankful" for yesterday's court hearing, and is planning a big party for when she finishes house arrest.

The 24-year-old actress has been under house arrest following her sentence on April 22 to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service for violating probation on charges of misdemeanour jewellery theft. Yesterday she was summoned to court to decide whether she had violated her probation linked to a 2007 DUI case, after it was alleged she had tested positive for alcohol earlier this month. The judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that Lindsay is in fact free to drink alcohol because Elden Fox, judge on the previous case, had only stipulated controlled substance testing from January 3 to February. Sources told Fox News Lindsay was thankful for yesterday's court appearance.

"Lindsay is always grateful for these situations because they bring her back into the present,'" explained the insider. The source added the star had been "calm and thankful" before the hearing, while New York Post says the actress is planning to party when her house arrest is over next week, also because she turns 25 on July 2. Lindsay will reportedly party at Paul Sevigny and Andr Saraiva's joint 40th-birthday bash in the Hamptons. Meanwhile, Lindsay's attorney Shawn Holley has spoken to E! News Special Correspondent Allison Hope Weiner about his client. He argued that she has not received any special treatment due to her fame.

"Anyone with her background would have gotten house arrest, she didn't get a special deal. I worried perception would harm her...But everyone--the judge, the courts--were professional, so it was fair. It was difficult in my mind. I believed public pressure would make the powers that be behave differently but she got what everyone would have," he explained. (C) Cover Media
