Lindsay Lohan believes living in the public eye is stressful at times.

The 26-year-old actress portrays Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime made-for-TV movie Liz & Dick.

While filming the project that focuses on the highly publicised relationship between Elizabeth and Richard Burton, Lindsay easily identified with the Hollywood icon.

"I personally understand Liz because you're living your life for everyone to see living in the public eye," she revealed to Extra.

"Dealing with the stress of what other people say, whether it's true or not."

The troubled actress has received a lot of negative media coverage in the past few weeks following an arrest for allegedly clipping a pedestrian with her car in New York City.

Rumours that she was under the influence while driving have plagued the star.

"You get to a point where you become numb to it and you just live your life the way that you feel you need to live it," she said.

Lindsay was charged with a misdemeanour offence for fleeing the scene of the accident.

She has denied that she was driving while intoxicated.
