Taylor Swift "felt rejected" when she was in school.
The 22-year-old country crooner didn't always lead a glamorous, happy life.
Taylor admits that she was often sad in her youth.
Her early songs were inspired by her sorrow.
"[My songwriting] started out when I was lonely at school," she told British newspaper The Sun.
"I felt rejected no one ever invited me to their parties."
Taylor feels that she has come a long way since she embarked on her music career.
The star now has very different fears about how the public will receive her work.
"When I brought out my first album at 16, my biggest fear was that no one would ever hear it," Taylor explained.
"Now I feel really lucky as it's guaranteed there will be loud opinions on it. Now my concerns are that those opinions are good."
Taylor loves her life currently.
She embraces her jet-setting lifestyle.
"Seeing the world. Having girls cry when they meet me is cute. Having people come and see me play. And getting to wear fancy dresses, [that's the best thing about my job]," she said.
Taylor released her new album Red in four countries on Monday.
