(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan has given her first post-rehab interview, in which she admits shell need to work hard to win back peoples trust.
The actress has had a spate of legal troubles over the last few months, resulting in her spending time in prison last year after she was found to have breached probation relating to her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). She later failed a court-ordered drugs test, and spent several months receiving rehab care at the Betty Ford Center.
Lindsay was released in January, but weeks later she was accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a store in Venice Beach, California. She has pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft, and has been offered a plea bargain.
The 24-year-old granted her first interview since leaving the Betty Ford Center to Extra, and it will air this week. She insists she is keen to get her life back on track, but acknowledges she has a lot of work to do if she wants a lengthy film career.
I feel great. I feel happy. There's always bumps we have in the road and as long as I'm focusing on the one thing I know I need to put first in my life, which is my recovery and stuff, then I'm doing good and that's important to me, she tells Jerry Penacoli.
I know theres going to be a lot of steps Ill have to go through to prove myself again and get the trust from people I respect to work with.
But Im willing to do what I have to do to get there. I miss being on set - I really do miss it.
Lindsay refuses to discuss the kind of movies she wants to land in the future, or who she would like to team up with.
There have been constant rumours about what her first project will be, as well as speculation about whether people will want to sign her to a project when she may be hard to insure. The star admits that is a worry, which is why she is focusing her attention on other aspects of her life at the moment.
I think that's something I will be able to say when I've taken the steps I need to take to prove that I can be insurable again. I think that will come in time that I will be in the position to say that because I don't think I am right now, she says.
I don't think it would be fair to say, Oh, this is who I want to work with, and expect that to happen. I have to build my way back up and I get that. (C) Cover Media
