Lindsay Lohan's father is reportedly planning to ask a court to make her the subject of a conservatorship.
Michael Lohan attempted to stage an intervention for his 26-year-old daughter on Friday, with claims her lawyer and members of her management team backed him up.
Police were called after he turned up at Lindsay's home and it's been alleged she is seeking a protection order against him.
According to TMZ, Michael is determined to get help for his daughter as he is convinced she is back on drugs.
"Michael will meet with lawyers early this week, and there's one thing he does want - he will NOT become Lindsay's conservator, because he doesn't want to run her finances so people will pass it off as a money grab," reports the site.
Michael is reportedly planning to ask the judge to appoint someone to take charge of Lindsay's affairs. He is apparently determined her mother Dina will not be in the running, as he sees her as one of the people who is causing trouble for Lindsay.
The star and her mom got into a vicious fight earlier this month, during which Lindsay phoned Michael and claimed Dina was on cocaine. She later retracted the allegations and blasted her dad for making their conversation public.
Michael apparently hopes conservators will be able to force Lindsay into rehab, as he believes she is abusing prescription medication. He is also keen for the whole family to have therapy sessions, which he claims Dina has always been opposed to.
In America, people who are deemed unable to cater to their basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter may be put under a conservatorship. Sometimes this means the subject's personal decisions are made for them, or it might be their professional choices which are taken out of their hands. In other cases such as that of Britney Spears people make no decisions for themselves.
