Madonna completing world tour

7th February 2012

Madonna will embark on a world tour this year.

Following her much talked about Super Bowl performance on Sunday, the Queen of Pop's team officially revealed the dates of the globe-spanning 2012 series of shows this morning.

The 52-year-old will play the opening concert in Tel Aviv, Israel, and cover close to 90 dates.

"Madonna is having a huge party and everyone's invited! The Madonna 2012 WorldTour begins May 29th 2012 in Tel Aviv, Israel, it was officially announced by Live Nation Entertainment, the tour's international promoter," Madonna's PR team said in a statement. "The shows will include arenas, stadiums and special outdoor sites including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec and a return visit to South America and Australia where she has not performed in 20 years. The tour will stop in 26 European cities including London, Edinburgh, Paris, Milan and Berlin."

The announcement of the international superstar's tour follows an extraordinary week for the legendary musician.

Not only did she wow with her halftime performance at one of America's biggest sporting events, Madonna also release the first single from her highly anticipated upcoming album.

Pop stars Britney Spears and Rihanna tweeted their excitement about Madonna's new material.

"Madonna - amazing performance last night! LUV you," Britney wrote on her profile.

"MDNA era>>>>>>>>>>>>>I'm here for it tbh! Madonna referencing herself is the ultimate F**K YOU! Hehehe (sic)," Rihanna added.

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour in 2008 proved that the music icon still draws in the crowds as she sold out arenas worldwide, grossing a total of $408 million according to Billboard Boxscore.

"Madonna's track record as a world class entertainer and touring artist speaks for itself. Her artistry, talent and creative productions get bigger and better with each tour and Madonna 2012 will be no exception. We are thrilled to have her back on the road and know her fans feel the same," Arthur Fogel, CEO Live Nation Entertainment Global Touring and Madonna tour promoter, said.
