Madonna gets royal help for movie

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The British royal family have been giving advice to Madonna for her latest movie project.

The superstar is making a film about King Edward VIII's controversial romance with US divorce Wallis Simpson which caused a stir in the UK at the start of the 20th century.

Madonna is so keen for her movie to be historically accurate and realistic that she went to Englands royalty to ask for advice, with Prince Edward and Princess Michael of Kent being among those who were happy to help. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also imparted their wisdom.

"The entire royal family were contacted and asked if they would like to meet Madonna and production staff - and many took up the opportunity, a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"Some senior figures turned it down. But others, including Princess Michael of Kent, Prince Edward and the Gloucesters, jumped at the chance."

The romantic drama stars James DArcy and Andrea Riseborough, and will tell the tale of how Edward abdicated the throne to wed Wallis, who was still married to her second husband when they met.

Madonna made her directorial debut two years ago with movie comedy Filth and Wisdom, and she is said to be very enthusiastic about her second attempt at moviemaking. (C) Cover Media
