"Mahavamsam", directed by Usri, is a period film that speaks about the contribution of Tamils to various civilizations across the globe.
Though there are many run-of-the-mill stuff made here, no attempt has been made to record our history and culture. "Mahavamsam" will fill the void, the director says.
Set in 1900 AD, the film speaks about a Tamil prince who crossed various shores to emerge victorious. Amazed at his valour, he is invited by Roman Prince to be his deputy. He establishes his empire in Malaysia besides leaving traces of Tamil culture in various parts of the world, he adds.
The movie has been after intense research and we had been countries like Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Korea, he adds.
Rahman, Priya, Henry, Ravi Sundaralingam, Manonmaniam and Keer Rahman form a part of the cast. The film has cinematography by Muhammad Kasim and music by Etri. Produced by Focus Films, "Mahavamsam" will hit the screens soon.
