Makers of 'Kriti' issue an official statement on the ongoing plagiarism issue

30th June 2016

After the recent takedown of the Nepali short film BoB from YouTube, Muvizz.com, the producers of 'Kriti' release their official statement along with their future plan of action. The statement reads-

This is with respect to the allegations that Kriti is plagiarized from a Nepali short film, Bob. We have initiated legal proceedings and will also be filing a defamation suit. But before anything else, let's look at the facts:

 1. We have asked the director of Bob to substantiate his allegations with facts. Not only has he failed to do that but has so far chosen to not even reply to our legal communication.

2. Bob was initially released online with a private key to the director's personal friends, none of whom are known to anyone at our end. If otherwise, we would like to know who amongst those with access shared the private key and more importantly to whom was it shared with.

3. Kriti was shot in Feb 2016 (we have extensive proof of the same), Bob was published on YouTube in May 2016, so the idea that Kriti was copied purely because it was released a month later on YouTube is ridiculous.

4. A takedown on YouTube is not a proof of wrongdoing but only that the matter is being investigated.

Clearly, the above facts believe such frivolous allegations only serve to further enhance the popularity and viewership of 'Kriti.' We have full faith and conviction in our fans that they will not be deluded by these petty self-serving diversionary tactics and support us in making 'Kriti' even a bigger success.

Lawyer of film's director Shirish Kunder and Muvizz.com states that "The film BOB was removed from YouTube channel last night because of objections from my clients. It is obvious that no case of plagiarism is made out against my clients as was alleged by Mr. Aneel Neupane. Currently my clients film Kriti is being exhibited on Muvizz.com."

"We have also explained our legal position to You Tube channel and You Tube has assured us full cooperation. My clients are fulfilling the requirements of YouTube in the said matter and are hopeful that their film shall be exhibited soon on their esteemed platform. In the meantime the viewers can view the said much appreciated film on Muvizz.com"
