Mankatha goes to Bollywood

2nd November 2011

Mankatha is all set to rock Bollywood. A remake of Ajith's 50th film is set to be made by leading Kollywood producer K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, who is a close relative of Suriya and Karthi Sivakumar.

Gnanavel Raja initially acquired the release rights of Mankatha. However, due to some 'undisclosed' reasons, the movie was distributed and released by Sun Pictures and Radaan Media.

'It was decided at that time itself that the Bollywood rights will be with Gnanavel Raja. Now that the film has become a massive hit in the south and has got all the potentials to emerge as a blockbuster in Hindi too, he is planning to start the Bollywood version soon,' sources say.

It is said that a leading Hindi director would wield the megaphone with a popular actor playing the role played by Ajith. 'An official announcement is to be made after November 15, as Gnanavel Raja is currently finalizing things,’ sources add.
